ALBILEX^®-OXI-ON is a blackening oxidation solution for the blackening of silver, silver alloys and copper surfaces. The product is mainly used for decorative applications.

Application

ALBILEX^®-OXI-ON is a ready for use solution, used at room temperature. The degreased parts can be blackened by simple immersion into the blackening oxidation solution or by manual application by means of a brush. Agitation of solution or parts is recommended to achieve an even black layer. When the black color has reached the desired intensity, the process has to be stopped by rinsing the parts for 2 min under running tap water, followed by careful drying.

For the long-term preservation of the black layer and protection against scratches it is recommended to cover the blackened parts with a clear lacquer. To reach the desired grade of blackening more precisely, the black oxidation solution can be diluted up to 10 times to slow down the blackening process. By careful polishing after usage of the blackening oxidation solution, a bluish color is also achievable.

Disposal

According to local regulations the electrolytic degreasing solution has to be given to the chemical disposal and afterwards to the sewage treatment plant. Further information can be obtained from the material safety data sheet.
